"Heat in the examination room"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Outpatients

(as a carer),

Attended outpatient appointment recently. Excellent communication, staff professional, efficient and courteous.

Only issue was the level of heat in the examination room, it was ridiculous! NHS Lanarkshire could definitely save money by turning down the thermostat.

I felt nauseous with how warm it was in the room, I also felt very sympathetic towards the staff having to work in these conditions as it was clearly visible how uncomfortable it was to work in those conditions. I know because I’ve been there too!

Hopefully, the outpatient managers will read this comment too. This may seem trivial to some people but I feel that it is important to ensure that staff have a comfortable working environment.

Dear Reluctant retiree,

Thank you for sharing your recent experience in University Hospital Wishaw, Outpatients department.

I am so pleased to hear that your appointment went well and that the staff were kind and courteous and that the communication from the staff was good. I am sorry however to hear that the room was too hot to the point you felt nauseous. This is certainly not how we want our patients to feel at their appointments.

I have highlighted this to the outpatients manager who will look into the options for this area and review it going forward.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
