Anything else?
My daughter is due to have her baby in November and when seen with complications at the beginning of her pregnancy the staff were wonderful and very reassuring. However with 9 weeks to go she has had to practically beg for details re antenatal classes. The midwife just said Oh its nothing to do with us now but couldn't help her and didn't offer to find out. this is something that should be common knowledge. The other thing is by know she should have a contact number for a midwife to ask for help or check if all is ok when she has a worry. She hasn't even been given a contact number yet, never mind a designated midwife. Every time she goes for an ante-natal apt she sees someone different. Most are lovely...the last one was downright rude and unhelpful. She didn't even write anything in her notes despite the fact that she gave her a tetanus jab and whooping cough vaccination. She didn't do any measurements either and couldn't/wouldn't answer questions. The only phone number for a midwife my daughter was given at the beginning has always gone straight through to the answerphone and she never ever calls back. We have been told she has left now but there has to be some support somewhere. I have chosen to remain anonymous as I don't want this to reflect on my daughter. When we have visited the actual hospital we have been impressed but there should be adequate midwifery cover in the community for Mums to be and there isn't.
