"All round fantastic care."

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / General Surgery

(as a service user),

I was admitted to A&E via Nhs 24 suffering abdominal pain. Despite being 5am on a Sunday morning was seen swiftly and triaged. Within a couple of hours a diagnosis of a stone in my Gallbladder was made and I was transferred 1st to surgical obs then ward 106 for surgery.

The staff in ward 106 were fantastic and provided exceptional care throughout my stay , it’s a very busy ward and the staff work hard but always professional and genuinely attentive to patients. I was taken to theatre 17 on the Tuesday morning to have my Gallbladder removed and the theatre and recovery staff were great. I felt quite anxious before going to theatre but was put at ease by everyone in the anaesthetic room and knew someone was holding my hand as I was put to sleep which was very comforting.

Back on ward 106 my postoperative care was fantastic from all staff involved.

Everyone from the lady who makes great cups of coffee and the domestic staff who keep the ward so clean to the nurses and Doctors did a wonderful job. I’m now recovering well at home. Thanks to all.

Dear Cls12,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback in relation to the care you received whilst under the care of the surgical teams. I will make sure to share with the team in Ward 106 who I know will be extremely grateful.

I'm extremely pleased to hear that you had such a positive experience and hope that you continue to recover well at home.

Wishing you a speedy recovery,

Shaun
