I came out in a rash on the Bank Holiday Saturday – I knew it was shingles and that I would need an anti-viral medication quickly to treat it. As I would not be able to see my GP until after the bank holiday I called the 111 service.
They asked me about my symptoms then asked if I could go to Hillingdon Hospital at 3: 20 to see a doctor. This was fine; I was seen on time, prescribed with pain killers and anti-viral medicine.
I think this is a very good service, it’s very reassuring to know that help is available when my own GP is not.
