"The doctor was kind and took time to explain"

About: Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a relative),

My husband's GP referred him to A&E at the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy due to severe pain in his groin. We expected to have a wait and were seen 2 hours later by Doctor Hewitt. We wish to thank Doctor Hewitt. She was extremely thorough, kind, confident, caring and took the time to explain everything clearly.

She made sure we understood everything and she promptly answered any questions we had. She arranged an immediate Xray for my husband and therefore found he had a slight hip fracture. She gave my husband suitable medication along with crutches and explained the importance of resting.

She then took the time to educate him on how and when to use the crutches. She clearly outlined what the next steps would be once he left A&E. My husbands GP surgery had received Doctor Hewitts report within 12 hours.

Doctor Hewitt appeared to be a younger doctor however she deserves to be highly commended, she is a very valuable asset to our NHS and will go far, We wish her the very best in her career.

I am so glad we were able to meet your expectations and also that you were understanding that you may have to wait to be seen. I hope you are now recovering well at home and will ensure that Dr Hewitt receives your feedback, it was kind of you to take the time to do so.
