I was admitted on recently for kidney tumour ablation by ultrasound, part of the CAIN trial. The procedure took place in the afternoon and I was awakened in the evening. There was no pain; I could sit up and move freely, being able to use facilities to hand.
My procedure was the third of its kind to be conducted in the UK.
Through the night I was comfortable. I felt to have recovered completely from the effects of anaesthesia in a very short time.
My MRI scan later in the morning showed all appeared well and I was returned to the ward by the orderly.
The decision was made for me to be discharged and I left the hospital at c.13:00, and walked down the road some distance to meet my wife who arrived to collect me
It is my pleasure to be able to commend the team that carried out this procedure. Professor Wah was reassuring and informative making me completely at ease.
Particular mention has to be made about Senior Research Nurse Pastor. She provided attentive care second to none, making me feel as though I was part of the family. This sort of care really helps to promote recovery and well-being.
A great many thanks for my being accepted on the trial and special thanks to all directly involved.
