"ACL Tears"

About: Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic Outpatients

(as the patient),

In 2017 I tore the ACL in my left knee and has surgery to repair this. Today I got told I have now unfortunately done the same in my right knee. The extent this time does not seem to be as bad as my cartilage and meniscus is unharmed, so surgery is not on the cards just now, just a long rehabilitation process. Although I am extremely gutted with not being able to play football for 6 months, and I thankful with how quickly the process took to have this diagnosis. Back in 2017, I waited months for an MRI scan which potentially created more issues for the knee as I continued to play sport not knowing the extent of the injury. But this time around I know the results within 3 weeks of the injury and feel like I can look after it properly from the very start. Although it’s going to be a long road, I am looking forward to starting the rehab with the look to finish the season with my football team.
