My son who is Deaf , Autistic and is awaiting a face to face appointment to assess him for adhd and anxiety disorder. He has constant motor restlessness and huge levels of anxiety. He does not sleep - he is on melatonin. Last night he was awake from 11:00pm to 5:45 am. We are absolutely exhausted, my son and myself and my husband. It’s affecting our mental health and the lack of sleep isn’t helping his . It is getting to the stage it’s affecting my physical health and I no longer know how long I can keep my job going.
He had a video consultation around Feb where the clinician agreed that an adhd assessment would be carried out but we haven’t heard anything at all. I called the duty team for support 2 months ago and I am still awaiting a call .
I am a family support worker who supports families and young people with neurodivergence. I use visuals, strategies, research new strategies, we have done sleep Scotland. We have a wee boy who is physically sick at the thought of school and who self harms at school, who wakes up multiple times at night anxious and stressed about what’s happening and that’s with all the strategies. His brain and body is running a million miles an hour. He gets no respite from anxiety and motor restlessness.
We have exhausted everything and I have reached out for more support. We have a complex wee boy who is being let down. We attempted to go private but the GP wouldn’t agree to shared care if he needed medication and the cost because of his already multiple diagnosised meant this was not possible.
My son was originally refused 2 times from Camhs before he was accepted - so we have been waiting a long long time and it’s now affecting the whole family but more significantly my son.
"Waiting for an assessment"
