I attended A&E at Hairmyres Hospital. Blood test results showed inflammation of my gallbladder and I was admitted to ward 4 and put on intravenous antibiotics. Unfortunately, the next morning my gallbladder ruptured and my condition deteriorated. X-ray, ultrasound scans and CT scan confirmed that the discharge from the gallbladder had caused abscesses on my liver. After 8 days the infection was brought under control and I was discharged.
After several months, when an MRI scan confirmed that the inflammation and abscesses had reduced, my gallbladder was removed. I can’t praise the staff at Hairmyres Hospital highly enough.
From the staff in A&E to the staff in wards 4 and 5, the porters and ancillary staff, the staff in X-ray, CT and MRI scan and all the doctors and consultants who looked after me. Also the staff in day surgery, the nurses, anaesthetists and theatre staff, when I had my operation, could not have been more helpful and professional.
"I can't praise staff highly enough"
