When the hospital social worker in the trauma ward in CAH suggested I go to Cloughreagh House for two weeks rehabilitation, I immediately said yes which was a shock and a surprise to my family.
I fell over my dog when I was putting the washing out which resulted in me having a fractured right hip. To be honest the whole experience has really knocked my confidence and when rehab in Cloughreagh House was suggested I knew that I would benefit physically and mentally as I had heard really good feedback about the service there.
When I arrived in Cloughreagh House I felt a great sense of relief, I remember looking out my bedroom window a feeling a real sense of normality, From my window I could see children playing and blowing bubbles, the sun was shining and the house across from me had a full line clothes blowing in the breeze, I had great views from every angle, I could see gardens with apple and pear trees I was seeing everyday life and not the noise and disruption of a busy ward. I felt very reassured and calm.
When I arrived I was greeted by very friendly and happy staff, I was offered a nice hot pot of tea and fresh breads and buns, it was just what I needed and yearned for since having to leave my own home.
And now about the staff team, it was clear that there was really good team work, that I was at the heart of all the care provided, staff always within reach and nothing too much trouble. They were always upbeat and willing to help.
The food was lovely, it was fresh and nutritious, I was offered a choice for my meals however the only criticism I would have is that the evening meal was sometimes repetitive.
The cleanliness. of the home was of a very high standard.
I would also like to thank the rehabilitation staff for their advise and guidance, they were always patient and understanding and worked at a pace I was happy with, they were always very professional. Together the whole team at Cloughreagh House was a key factor in my recovery journey. I am clear on what I need to continue you do when I return home.
Thank you to all of the staff who looked after me so very well, you truly achieved a positive outcome for me, I am now ready for home. Keep doing what you are doing.
"You truly achieved a positive outcome for me"
