I was referred to the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport by my GP for a Gynaecology consultation, he thought waiting time was approximately 4 months, after 4 months I called the appointment line and was told the waiting time was over 6 months, not 4 months and to wait for a letter, after 6 months I heard nothing and called again to try and find a timescale of when I might be seen, as I do need to manage my life around an increasingly worrying health condition, and I was rather abruptly told that I will get a letter in due course and the person was not prepared to give any indication when this might be, and if I was not happy to go back to my GP.
I am not trying to queue jump or want to waste my GP's time on something she has no control over, I consider I have been very patient in waiting over 6 months so far with no indication of how long this wait may be.
My concern is why can't the appointment bookings team give my some realistic expectation of when I will eventually get to see a consultant as I need to be able to make future plans regarding work and family andhave to manage my time around this health issue, and do not want to miss any opportunity to get an appointment
"why can they not give me an indication of waiting times?"
