My husband was admitted for surgery recently at the Vale of Leven, Ward 6. We would both like to say a big thank you to all the staff involved in his care, we were both made to feel welcome in a warm and friendly manner from the lady at the main reception, the ladies in the WRVS shop, the nurses, Consultant, physio, pharmacist, anaesthetist, to the student nurse and domestic staff. We met all of these people even though my husband was only in for day surgery. The staff were second to none, very caring and welcoming making our experience a truly positive one. We were given clear explanations about the surgery and were impressed by the cleanliness of the ward, even the food was tasty.
The signage was particularly good, and it was fantastic to be able to walk into a hospital entrance which was free from cigarette smoke.
Being a nurse myself it is often difficult to be on the receiving end, and I am pleased to say I was happy that my husband was well cared for and most of all safe, in the hands of an excellent team. One small suggestion would to be to invest in some different sized theatre gowns as my husband is on the larger size, it was rather short, and did not fasten fully at the back, which was not good for his dignity. Finally I would really like to say thank you to the staff nurse, we really appreciated your kindness.
