About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Colorectal surgery & stoma care

(as the patient),

I spent some time in the discharge lounge after leaving Lyme ward.

Being in there allowed my bed to be allocated to the next poorly patient.

I was welcomed by nurse Donna, who checked me in and explained all.

I was given a lovely comfy lounge chair and offered refreshments by Arlene and Ann.

The pharmacy was really under pressure that afternoon and medications were taking longer than usual to be delivered. Some of the patients were getting quite grumpy with the staff. Donna, Ann and Arlene remained very calm and explained the situation.

Well done, Team Discharge Lounge. You are running a great part of the hospital and your professionalism shone through.
