"You cannot beat the nursing care"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Victoria Hospital / Admissions Unit 1 (Emergency Medical) Victoria Hospital / Dermatology Victoria Hospital / Radiology Victoria Hospital / Rapid Access and Discharge Victoria Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I have had repeated admissions to the Victoria hospital over the years and mostly short stays.

This admission was a bit different as I had a fall at home in the early hours of the morning . It wasn't until my lady who deliver meals on wheels to me at lunchtime that I was found. I couldn't reach my phone so I was so grateful that she came in and was able to call for an ambulance,

I was taken to the Accident & Emergency Department then transferred into Admissions Unit 1

I have received good care although it is very busy with everyone coming and going  I just had to call with the buzzer if I needed anything.

I also spent a very shot time in ward 53 and I couldn't fault any of the staff they were all very good to me.

I had a chest X ray it was much easier for me as I was able to have it in a sitting position. everything was well explained I felt comfortable and cared for and the communication was good too.

I was eventually settled into ward 9 Rapid Assessment Discharge and this is a braw ward. the staff are very good and hold a good attitude towards me as a patient. They can be strict and give good instruction but this is all to benefit and help patients I have also observed that they are quick to respond and assist patients who need assistance.

I require medical help from the Dermatology department and they are very specialised  I know there are special treatments they can give me that cannot be done here in the ward . It is reassuring to know that they are there to help me and change my dressings as required.

When I returned from dermatology the other day my food was cold The staff in ward 9 were very quick to assist and ensure that I had hot food. I like my food to be hot. The staff have reassured me that it's best if I have my meals with no interruption. I thought that was very kind of them. they are so understanding.

A little bit more about the meals 'The salads from the catering department are excellent they are so good and filling to The soups are out of this world. There is also plenty of choice on the menus.

Big Bill as I call him  who is a nurse here in ward 9 deserves a special mention he is excellent just the perfect gentleman. You just cannot beat the nursing care here in ward 9 the care is excellent.

I have also seen the occupational Therapist and they are discussing a home care package for me I am very grateful for this

 I cannot say anymore.

The care overall in the Victoria hospital is in my opinion perfect.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience in hospital. As a radiographer who works in x-ray, it is great to hear that the team were able to make positioning for your x-ray manageable for you and you were communicated to well.

I will be sure to pass this positive feedback on to the whole radiology team, as this is a real motivating tool for them all.

I am glad to hear your experience in the hospital has been a positive one and I wish you all the best in your recovery.
