I was first seen at rheumatology in September 2022. Was told the treatment I would be starting would be in 10 days. 8 weeks later I had to contact rheumatology to ask why I was waiting to start treatment. Was told there was nobody available to sign letter for my GP to prescribe treatment.
Finally started treatment in November. After 12 weeks there was no improvement. Received a letter stating I would have a review at the end of February 2023. Then got another letter stating review would be in July 2023.
20 week waiting with no meds or support from rheumatology. Had review in July 2023. Was told it would be 10 days before I could start treatment. Plus I had to have education which consisted of a photocopy of a leaflet.
Three weeks after review and I’m no further on. Total weeks as a patient with rheumatology - 45 weeks. Time on treatment - 12 weeks. Total untreated time on waiting list - 33 weeks.
Emailed PALS, received a receipt. That was the full input. Nurse Support made me feel I was a nuisance whenever I called to explain the impact of being in so much daily pain.
"Unacceptable waiting times between treatment"
