"It's therapeutic"

About: Rampton Hospital / National High Secure Healthcare Service for Women

(as the patient),

I enjoy Horticulture

I like watering the plants with the hose, I like a lot of what we do there.

It keeps me busy so I’m not worrying about things. Its therapeutic when I’m around the animals.

Sometimes it gets cancelled which is not great for us

I’d like to work with the tools, I feel I would learn more skills when I start to make things.

Thank you for taking the time to post this.

I am pleased you are learning new skills in the gardens at horticulture, keep it up, however im sorry that sometimes its cancelled don't let this be a negative we are working on it.. DRC staff try very hard to get patients off the wards to attend sessions as its important to keep busy.

Regards

Kath

Thanks for this really positive posting about Horticulture its great to hear teh benefits you having from attending.

We love for patients to be able to access tools in a graded and safe way to engage in a wider range of activities and would do this by discussing it with your clinical team so its at the right time in your recovery journey.

As Kath says we do our best not to cancel sessions but sometimes staffing can be challenging so we work really hard with the wards and other areas to try and facilitate where we can.

Thanks again for your feedback

Kay

Great to hear that you are enjoying keeping busy at Horticulture and would like to develop your skills further in this area.

Thank you for your contributions with the animals and keeping the space looking amazing for us all to appreciate.

I know the Team work exceptionally hard to ensure that all sessions are facilitated. We know how therapeutic this area is to our patients and staff alike...… So I'm sorry that you occasionally experience some cancellations.

Take care,

Chloe.
