I was admitted to Ward 72 in April to be induced, as I had high blood pressure. I was there for 24 hours when my waters broke and I was then moved to the labour ward. I ended up having an emergency section, lost a lot of blood and was in HDU before being transferred to Ward 68 for 2 nights before being discharged.
Every member of staff I came into contact with was so friendly and went above and beyond to make sure me and my husband knew what was happening, as it was all unplanned as I was very nervous.
Me and my husband felt so supported and involved in all aspects of my care. Everything was explained and my concerns were listened to and my questions answered, which allowed us to make informed decisions.
My midwives Louise and Elise from the Labour Ward were so kind and talked us through all the stages of labour and explained everything so clearly. Louise even remembered my husband when she saw him in the shop the next night and went over to ask how I was!
My consultant Craig and his team who delivered my baby were amazing. He was so reassuring at a really scary time. He even came to visit me and my husband in the ward after the delivery to explain everything to us, as it was all a bit of a blur at the time.
The midwives and all the staff on Ward 68 were also fantastic, nothing was too much trouble no matter what time of the day or night I buzzed for support. Student midwife Lesley was so knowledgeable and helpful when I had trouble trying to breastfeed. The midwives and healthcare support workers were so supportive and helped me try different things and also helped when we realised it wasn’t going to work for me.
I can’t thank the teams in Wards 68, 72 and the Labour Ward enough for what they did for us. They helped take the fear out of a very scary situation and delivered our long awaited daughter safe and well.
I only wish I could remember all their names as I would love to thank them all individually. But ‘thank you’ just doesn’t seem enough, they are all worth their weight in gold.
"They are all worth their weight in gold."
