Myself and my husband are first time parents. We had an appointment in Aberdeen at 38 weeks pregnant and the consultant advised to start getting sweeps in Peterhead from 39 weeks the Monday, Wednesday and Friday which I did.
In April I got my last sweep and I was 2cm dilated. That night I phoned Aberdeen to see how my induction would work. They advised me they had a space on the Friday so we went straight to labour ward at 9:15pm. We were both really nervous. The midwives etc was all really helpful. That night the midwife broke my waters.
On the following morning I was still not making much progress so they advised a section might be a good option so at 3:00pm they started getting things organised. The midwife I had in the labour ward was my midwife from Peterhead. I was assigned Denise who works in both Aberdeen and Peterhead and I felt extremely lucky. She stayed with myself and my husband the whole time.
Once our daughter was born we were moved up to Ashgrove ward and we had midwife Tracy and student midwife Kerry. They were both so supportive, helpful, caring and kind. They went above and beyond to make sure we was all ok and answer any questions etc. As first time parents they made us really relaxed and for the whole experience to be a very good, happy and positive experience for us all as a new family.
"A good, happy and positive experience for us all"
