"Dr grays hospital elgin"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Stroke

(as a relative),

My husband suffered a haemorrhagic stroke last month, he was working away from home at the time ,and he was treated at Dr Grays hospital. He was on the stroke ward for 12 days, before being transferred back to our local hospital. We have nothing but praise for the staff on the stroke ward, they all work extremely hard and go above and beyond to make sure there patients are well looked after. Nothing is to much trouble for them. They also made me feel very welcome (I joined my husband up there ). We where a long way from home, but we felt as if we where among friends, which was a comfort to us at a extremely stressful time. They genuinely care about there patients and there families. If we lived in the Elgin area we would have no worries about us, or any of our family members using Dr Gray's hospital at all ,you are lucky to have such a wonderful hospital in your area. Thank you for everything.

Dear Angela1969

Thank you so much for sharing your recent experience when your husband was cared for within the Stroke Ward at Dr Grays Hospital.

I am delighted to read that the care the team delivered had such a positive impact on you and your husband. We always strive to deliver person centred compassionate care and delighted to read that you encountered this from the team. They will be so pleased to read your comments and the impact that they had on his stay in the ward.

Being unwell is a very anxious time for patients and their families and this must have been even more so for yourselves given you were far from home.

I hope his recovery period is going well.

With very best wishes to you both.

Fiona

Dear Angela1969

Thank you so much for sharing your positive story about your husbands care in the Stroke Ward at Dr Gray's.

The team on Stroke ward are totally dedicated to caring for stroke patients. Within the care they give they are aware of how difficult the situation is for family so give support to them too and I'm delighted to read that this was your experience.

We are lucky to have such a dedicated team and will share this lovely feedback with them.

I hope your husband is progressing through his recovery and we send you both best wishes.

Take care

Diane

Hi Angela1969,

I’m a Facilitator for the Quality Improvement team at NHS Grampian and I was delighted to read how the staff supported both you and your husband while he was a patient in the stroke ward at Dr Gray’s. I hope his recovery journey is going well.

The care and support you have described in your story is just how we would like every patient journey to be and we wondered if you would be interested in getting in touch to tell us a bit more – though I appreciate this might be a busy time for you.

We hope that by sharing your story further we can let other families know what to expect and care teams know the positive effects of welcoming family members into the ward environment.

It you feel you would like to help, I would be pleased to hear from you and can be contacted on telephone/text: 07885720267 or email: kirsten.dickson@nhs.scot.

Take care,

Kirsten
