Over a year from being referred back to see a consultant following on-going pain after Gallbladder surgery, I finally got to see a consultant recently..
I was given at best five minutes, during which time I felt the consultant to be arrogant, unsympathetic and generally made to feel like I was wasting their time.
They did say they would book me for a CT scan, but couldn't tell me how long this would be. I explained that I had private health insurance, and if they could send a letter to my GP advising they were requesting a scan, then I could get this booked via the insurance a lot quicker.
A week later, I have checked with my GP surgery and they have received nothing - so I can't even make use of the private health care I pay for, because it's evidently too hard to just send a letter.
This whole sorry affair has been going on for over three years now, and I feel I have been failed by the NHS at every juncture. From action on initial symptoms to then being un-able to carry out a standard Cholecystectomy, due to the Gallbladder becoming so diseased from the length of time it took to get the surgery.
I am now left with an abnormal bulge in my stomach, and having to take painkillers every day for on-going pain. Despite numerous efforts to seek help, no-one seems to care.
