My mother is in her eighties and was rushed by ambulance to Morriston hospital. She had to wait 8 hours in a ambulance for a space. An ECG was done in the ambulance while she was waiting. We were informed at the time that there was evidence of a stroke and TIA. The ward D staff are great very caring and helpful.
My problem is the ongoing care. Planning and total lack of organisation from the people above the ward staff. As soon as they realised that my mother has her own house I believe her mental health issues have been ignored and played down so she will have to fund her onward care for herself. The problem is she has serious mental health issues which are now being ignored. If she didn't have a house my belief is that these would be being addressed. But because of the system, which appears to be a fundamentally flawed, one, she is not going to receive the treatment she deserves and is entitled to, and two, is going to have to pay for care that isn't suitable. They have changed their mind three times now on her assessments from EMI to care to nursing. What a absolute shambles.
I assume if she had nothing then they would be addressing her mental health issues and paying for her onward health care.
