"I was very fortunate to be offered a place"

I was quite unwell and I was very fortunate to be offered a place at the Dame Carol Detox unit. Even before I arrived the staff made me feel comfortable by phoning me several times to reassure me and told me about the Unit. From the moment I arrived I was made very welcome and all observations such as blood pressure etc were made within half an hour. I was then shown to a very comfortable room and given a tour of the unit.

The staff were very welcoming and very professional and I saw the doctor within 2 hours and was started on the treatment plan.

The group work is amazing and is structured and relaxing and also sometimes there is a quiz if anyone would like to participate, I would recommend this place so much and you are given a care plan and always kept informed with what is happening. There are several evening meetings during the week where people share their strength, recovery and hope.

The food is very nice and nutritious and like the rest of the staff the chef is very friendly. This is my last evening and I am leaving tomorrow and I feel absolutely so much better and have the tools I have gained to continue my recovery. I would recommend the Dame Carol unit to anyone.
