About: Community Nursing / District Nursing NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Royal Alexandra Hospital / GP Out of Hours

(as a relative),

My dad told me at the end of May that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. After our dad’s diagnosis it was generally expected that he would attend an oncologist appointment,  however he deteriorated rapidly over the weekend.

I called NHS 24/7 and a wonderful doctor (Dr Tollan) provided  just in case medication. We called the district nurse team (East Ren) to administer it and each and every member of the team were wonderful- so kind, compassionate and comforting. From there on a syringe pump was fitted and Ashleigh & Marie attended regularly- providing care and advice.

We really didn’t know what we were doing but following their advice gave us so much reassurance & more importantly allowed our dad to pass at home comfortably, calmly and cared for.

I am beyond grateful to the team and just want to say thank you for doing such an amazing job.
