I was home with family and grandchildren it was a dry morning and the children were playing outside. My granddaughter couldn't lift my toddler grandchild out of the swing so I went to help and slipped on some slime on a path around our house. I was wearing crocs which I wear around the house. My right ankle went under and I heard the crack. Fortunately I fell backwards onto soggy grass. Fortunately my husband and daughter were at home and came to my aid.
We decided to go to Omagh Hospital as opposed to Altnagalvin Hospital as we know it would be busy on a Saturday.
Within half an hour we were in A+E at Omagh. Everyone was very friendly from the arrival and did everything they could to make us feel comfortable, wheelchair etc. Thankfully there was just about 9 people ahead of us and within 20 minutes I was off to x ray.
Everyone on the team was so encouraging and professional. I even got a cup of tea and a biscuit as the canteen was closed. Geraldine and Aidan explained everything to me as the plaster was applied and blood thinning injection introduced.
I have been to the hospital once before when I got diagnosed for a pace maker and the same love and care was given me then.
Thank you Omagh Hospital.
