My lovely Mother-in-Law was taken into RAH Paisley in early May with an infection, when she was not reacting as quickly as they would like to the broad spectrum antibiotics and antivirals she was given in the Vale of Leven Hospital.
Subsequent tests and scans in the AMU showed she had a viral infection, and we were warned she was very, very ill and she might not be able to get over the infection.
She was taken up to ward 10, every single medical professional was absolutely lovely. Every day when we arrived, the nurse looking after her would come in and give us an update. Most days a doctor would come in too and give us their update too.
Once the team realised their treatment wasn't working, and that they could do no more, they gave us the news with compassion and helped us come to terms with it.
Once she was put onto end of life care, the nursing team were so caring. They checked on us every time we came in, and numerous times during the day. They told us to let them know if there was anything we, or my MiL needed. They were all so compassionate and caring, particularly with my elderly Father in Law, who was broken-hearted.
They made a very hard situation a lot easier to handle, and I am so grateful to them.
