"Delays in my heart treatment"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Cardiology North Devon District Hospital / Cardio-Respiratory

(as the patient),

I had an Echo test 6 months ago which showed that my aortic stenosis had reached the moderate to severe stage.  I was supposed to have another Echo test about now  (June 2023 ).  But I have now been told that there is a backlog for this procedure of  10 to 12 months.

I realise that the Cardiology department is under great pressure at the moment but I am now very worried that if my condition is not monitored soon, things could take a turn for the worst or possible death.

Hi, routine appointments for echo are waiting due to a backlog, however, when there is a timescale relating to a known valvular disease we do endeavour to see you within the specified timescale. Please ring me on 01271 337709 or 01271 322475 so I can look into your individual case.

Update posted by eaglewt96 (the patient)

Hi Sally Anne. Thank you very much for the information. Actually, my GP has contacted Cardio Resp on my behalf and I do now have an appointment for this week. I'm grateful for this, because I realise that your department is working flat out at the moment.

My good wishes to you all.
