"Very well cared for"

About: Day Services / Thornton Gardens

(as a relative),

My mum recently had a respite stay in Thornton gardens in Bonnybridge so that I could attend my sons wedding.

The staff were excellent and on the day of the wedding they ensured  my mum felt included in the celebrations.

My mum was very well cared for and  enjoyed the company , time spent outside and she really enjoyed her stay.

I am sad however that this facility is no longer available for frail elderly residents.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your story. I am really pleased to hear that your mum had a lovely stay with the team at Thornton Gardens and that this meant you were able to enjoy your sons wedding.

I understand that you are disappointed about the service not being available to your mum now, a registration variation was approved by the Care Inspectorate to allow Thornton Gardens to offer short break services to older people as well as its original registration covering adults with a learning disability in Response to the impact of the pandemic. This provided additional capacity for the short break service while alternative accommodation was unreliable or unavailable. The temporary registration had been extended three times to give support but unfortunately this came to an end on he 31st May. The Short Breaks Bureau continue to support our frail and elderly residents to enjoy respite in other resources.

Your words will be so well received and I'll make sure this post is displayed with pride in the Staff Break Room. I am sure the staff will also join me in wishing your son happiness and joy in his marriage.

Kind regards

Kirsty
