"Brilliant treatment at Royal Cornwall Hospital Truro"

About: Falmouth Community Hospital Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

I attended Falmouth MIU having feinted and fallen into the sea before being retrieved by friends. At that point I was weak and struggling to breath.

From the moment I arrived in Falmouth MIU I was amazed by the warmth, care and professionalism shown by all staff, including the nurses and professionals in Falmouth. The ambulance drivers who transported me to Truro and ensured the RCHT emergency staff gave me the urgent attention I needed were also brilliant. And then I was blown away by the fantastic doctors, nurses and professionals running the A&E major ward I was looked after in. Dr Phoebe and Healthcare Assistant Izzy in particular took care of me brilliantly.

As well as the warmth, care and professionalism of the treatment I received, I was also hugely impressed by the teamwork I observed on the A&E majors ward. The staff showed exceptional levels of camaraderie as well as clear communication and effective decision making in the way they worked together to work out the best course of action in my care. I couldn't hear it all, but the tone and nature of the conversations between clinical staff was balanced and constructive, which gave me confidence that the right decisions were being made throughout my stay.

I was eventually discharged in the late pm/early evening feeling very grateful and hugely impressed. I hope I don't have to visit hospital again for a while, but if I'd be delighted to be treated by the team who helped my yesterday in Falmouth and Truro. Many thanks to everyone involved.
