"Crosshouse hospital, Gynaecology department,"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

After over two years of trying to get help for my health issues that are badly affecting my life and mental health, I got an appointment at the hysteroscopy clinic for endometrial assessment last year at Crosshouse hospital. I felt they really listened to me and when they discovered problems and organised further investigation through MRIs, I felt that they cared about my treatment and I was finally going to get the help I needed. However, since then, I have been left feeling abandoned and dismissed, as there has been a total lack of communication about my second MRI report and the next steps for my health care. I have phoned several times as I am confused by the plan for my treatment and the fact that I have received a pre op appointment and been told I fall within the 18 week guarantee but have not had any discussion or further information from the doctor. After several phone calls where I was promised either a phone call back that didn’t come or that messages about my concerns would be passed on to the doctor, I was told that there were no appointments till later this year and no telephone consultations available. I was also told that I had a review later in 2023, which I was unaware of. I feel that since my 2nd MRI was over 2 months ago, this is a long time to wait to discuss it and next steps. I was then further confused to receive a letter saying that they wanted to refer me to the endometriosis centre in Glasgow if I was contemplating surgery. It was my understanding from discussions and previous correspondence that I was already on a waitlist for laparoscopic surgery and now I don’t understand where I go from here. I don’t know what being referred to the Glasgow centre would mean in terms of my care or my wait time and no one seems to care. The thought of having to phone again to try and get answers is actually making me cry as I type this, because I just feel that I am just a number and they aren’t interested in helping me with my care. I understand the immense pressures the NHS are under, but I am really struggling to keep going and feel like I am getting nowhere. Although I understand that I may have to wait for treatment, I just want someone to explain what is going on with my care and to feel like I have someone who I can go to with queries or concerns about my treatment. I was so happy and felt so confident with my doctor and now I just feel disappointed and discarded.

Dear Heatpe83

I am so sorry to hear that you have been disappointed around your 2nd MRI scan. Can I ask you to give us a ring on 01563825441 quoting care opinion so that we can investigate what has happened here?

Many thanks

Attica
