"Unexpected appendix surgery."

About: Minehead Community Hospital / Minor Injuries Unit Paediatrics / Paediatric Assessment Unit

(as a service user),

My son was admitted to musgrove park hospital as an emergency for an inflanned appendix.

My son has aspergers and sensory processing.

In ED PAU, theatre , recovery and oak ward the staff acknowledged and respected my sons needs, they listened and cared for my son with integrity and compassion.

Special thanks to all the staff in MIU minehead, musgrove ED practitioner (Im afraid I forgot your name) nurses Emma and Sarah in PAU, play specialist Sarah, ED porter Rachel, nurse Elizabeth on oak ward and the fabulous surgical team and anesthetic team.

The nhs is a privilege and all of you should be very proud of yourselves for being there in our time of need .

Dear MumofRock,

Relieved to hear that your son has made a good recovery post surgery and that he was cared for with such integrity and compassion, meeting his individual care needs.

Such wonderful feedback for our team thank you! All the colleagues you mention just show what a team effort across so many NHS specialities and units it can sometimes take to ensure care is optimal for children and young people.

With my colleague, we are tracking each and everyone mentioned down to ensure they receive your feedback and thanks - plus we are sharing it widely with lead colleagues across paediatrics, emergency department, theatres, recovery, anaesthetics, porter team to make sure we have not missed anyone out! I am also trying to find a contact for MIU in Minehead with my emergency colleagues. You are amazing for remembering everyone's name...

Thank you again.
