I went in with an excruciating pain in my tummy. They saw to me within 10 minutes of me arriving and I left the same morning within 2 hours of arriving. The team was very professional and did a great job making sure that the pain was dealt with immediately.
Couple of improvements:
1) I contacted the ambulance service on 999 to find out which hospital I could go to that was the nearest to my home and the ambulance person did not know this. Maybe a list of A&E centres should be available to the ambulance drivers. I had to wait about 5 whole minutes for him to find this out and eventually I told him I knew of 2 and he said I could use the one.
2) When I arrived, the reception lady did not ask me much about my illness. Whilst I understand she is not a nurse, I thought that the initial questions, like where is the pain, which side of your tummy as it could have been my appendix that if bursted when I was waiting could have been fatal. So maybe some training to identify if this is an emergency or not.
