I have recently returned home from having a left total knee replacement at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital. Everyone from the theatre team - theatre 10, to the recovery team to the staff in ward 2 west were professional, compassionate and interested in me and my journey, I felt safe in their hands, and very well cared for. It was obvious how busy everyone was but the sense of team work and pride in their work was obvious to all. Nothing was too much trouble for the team. A special shout out to my named nurse Rachel, to Laura the physio, who made you want to do those exercises even though they were a tad uncomfortable! To Rebecca for hints and tips on recovering at home, to Claudine and Natalie for the care overnight and to Lauren for her discharge talk, an early career nurse you have a bright future ahead. I did not meet the clinical ward manager but whoever you are you should be proud of the team, the working environment and the care in your clinical space.
Many thanks to those who are working away in the background ensuring you live in a clean space, have food and water and are never too busy to say hello. It takes everyone to fulfil their role to make a success and this is what I witnessed when I was in for two nights, thank you to everyone involved you really made me feel comfortable and started my recovery in the best possible way.
"You should be proud of the team"
