"Reablement"

About: Atlas Care Services Ltd Lincolnshire County Council

(as a relative),

Could not get any reablement support was only offered 1 and a half hours from Atlas which would be means tested so declined this.

As I was told I could get a bill at the end of the month if Income for him was over the limit which would take 5 weeks to assess so arranged private care myself . Which I was doing before he went into hospital.  Who wash and shower him and make his breakfast.

Last time I contacted adult social care to apply for a shower I was told money from property would be included in the claim. I feel totally let down by the NHS my husband has worked all his life and also served his country in 1959 active service and having to beg for the 4 weeks free is degrading.

The answer was he needed extra care is 1 and half hours a day extra care. I am on palliative care myself but with Atlas was told I would have to deal with feeding him. Also, evening care would be done by my daughter who works for a care company.  My income is nothing to do with the four weeks free everyone gets it and I feel we have been discriminated against.

We have worked all our life’s and we are not entitled to anything. If we were on benefits would we get it free? doesn’t seem fair to me!
