"Made to feel uneasy"

About: Maternity care (Ward 31) / Maternity Day Care

(as a service user),

I had my booking appointment at the RAH in Paisley. The midwife was lovely and it was a great experience, until I was referred downstairs to the day care unit for blood pressure monitoring.

I had selected the QEUH as my place of birth to help my Mum get to and forth the hospital when it's time, but the staff here did not like that. It caused some problems and I was made to feel like it was my fault.

The nurse on shift, I cannot remember their name, referred to me as the Queen Elizabeth Girl rather than my actual name. Following some observation, I was sent on my way with an appointment booked for the following day at the QEUH for the same thing. I hope my experience goes a little better there.

Dear glasgowgirl93

I am glad to hear of your positive experience during your booking appointment.

I am really sorry to hear of the negative experience you had in day care. Referring to you as the "Queen Elizabeth girl" is not in keeping with our core values where we treat everyone with dignity and respect. I will ensure to share this feedback with the department so that we can learn from this.

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch, please feel free to contact me on email below if you wish to discuss this further.

Best wishes

Angela Watt
