I would like to say that I was very impressed by the helpfulness and professionalism of 'Ali' who was on the Clinical Desk in Avon on Monday 22nd July.
I was visiting some friends, when one of their relatives was taken unwell, some miles away, then they asked for my professional opinion on what their options were (I am a Paramedic although no longer work in the South Western Ambulance Area).
After speaking to another of her relatives on the phone, I ascertained more relevant information and provided advice. I used to work in Gloucester control and still had the telephone number where they were able to connect me though to Ali. This was quite a complicated case, not only logistically with the distances involved and not having access to the patient etc, but I needed some information regarding ECP visits, access to intermediate care teams, access to respite beds and the best possible way of accessing any of these once it was established that the patient's daughter had not mentioned any priority symptoms. Ali then had to speak to a Dr regarding another matter.
She took my name and telephone number and promptly called me back and with further discussions provided me with the information I required.
