"Within 24hrs of my accident I was in surgery"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Alexandra Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics (wards 21-23) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as the patient),

I had a fall when I was out hiking with a friend. We had to call for help and the Special Ops Response Team came out, gave me pain relief, got me off the hillside and safely into the hospital.  They did an absolutely amazing job!

The team were reassuring and we even managed to have a laugh -  my Ex Military sense of humour might have helped.

The Emergency Department was busy but I was seen pretty quickly and the staff kept me informed about my treatment.

Within 24hrs of my accident I was in surgery - on a Sunday!

On the Monday morning I saw the physio team who had me up and learning to use crutches.  After two nights in the hospital,  I was sent home to start my recovery, with an appointment at the fracture clinic two weeks later.

My appointment at the clinic went well, I was seen on time and the staff explained what was happening, I also had time to ask questions.

My healing journey continues at home with the help of my family and further appointment at the fracture clinic.

Dear Christine234

Thank you for sharing your story. It sounds like it was quite an ordeal o I am pleased to read that you are happy with the care that you received every step of the way from NHS Scotland.

If you would like me to identify the SORT and ambulance crew that attended and pass on your thanks could I ask that you contact our Patient Experience Team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, Care Opinion username and the date and rough address we attended.

I do hope that your recovery continues smoothly.

Kindest regards

David

Good afternoon,

Thankyou so much first of all for taking the time to share this lovely feedback with us. It sounds like a great team effort to ensure you received the care and treatment you needed and I hope your journey to recovery continues to progress well.

Our teams work so hard to deliver excellent levels of care to their patients, often in very busy conditions, so I was really pleased to receive your comments about your journey as a whole and our teams will be delighted to hear your feedback also - we'll be sure to pass this on to them.

Thanks again for sharing and wishing you a speedy recovery!

Regards

Yvonne McDowall
