"Child birth"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as a relative),

My partner recently gave birth at Wishaw General and overall the treatment she received was appalling as soon as she left the receiving ward. For starters she was unable to walk for 2 days and lost all feeling in both of her legs yet the typical nurses who have been around for long enough said she should be up Like every other c section women as they stated. Their bedside manner was appealing especially during such a traumatic and frightening experience for both myself and my partner.

Secondly, she was discharged with no explanation as to why this had happened and made to walk to reception even though she still did not having full sensation and movement in one of her legs. Weeks on and her sensation in one of her legs still isn’t back in and to make matters worse the discharge letter our health visitor received doesn’t detail why she was placed on medication (is there something to hide?).

Fast forward to today and we have now been back twice to Wishaw as her section wound that hasn’t healed and is now infected and opening in three different areas. This is even after she has explained that due to her illness she is unable to absorb tablets she has been given her third course of antibiotics. The third set was given to her by a senior doctor who did not look at her or come see her just word of mouth and even when she was seen they gave her no advice just a blank look as to what they can’t do.

She has been left in excruciating pain and unable to properly take care of our newborn baby. This has brought extreme distress to my partner as she is unable to walk properly and par take in day to day activities. We have still yet to receive an apology for the treatment we have received. As a family we have been left devastated, traumatised and enraged with the treatment we have received.
