"Lack of face masks"

About: Western General Hospital (Edinburgh)

(as a relative),

I'm a recently retired staff member within NHS Lothian

I've been visiting a relative at the Western General Hospital daily for the past month

I'm extremely disappointed by the number of staff ( all disciplines)  in communal corridors not wearing face masks- I've seen this on a daily basis and would like to feed this back.

Dear hcpjd62,

We follow Scottish Government guidelines. These guidelines currently recommend that masks are worn when providing patient care or passing through a clinical area. We continue to ask staff to wear masks when providing direct patient care or other services to patients, and we continue to support and monitor this. Mask use by staff, patients or members of the public in corridors and other communal areas is recommended but it remains a matter of personal choice.

Kind regards

Claire
