Last year my husband was involved in an accident when he became unwell whilst driving his car. He passed out at the wheel and became conscious when he collided with another vehicle. Fortunately, none of the drivers were injured but he had no idea what had happened.
We immediately attended the Emergency Department at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) and following examinations there were no obvious health conditions identified. The Registrar suggested that he may have fainted and referred him to the Syncope Clinic.
Syncope Clinic
At the appointment we met my husband’s consultant Doctor Mitchell, from the onset she was kind and compassionate and we believed that she really cared about what had happened. She took the time to listen carefully to my husband’s story and then provided a clear plan of care.
My husband underwent a series of investigations and thankfully, all his results came back normal. Having had a thorough MOT we both felt reassured and relieved that there was nothing sinister going on and that this event was a one-off.
We would like to thank all the skilled healthcare workers who supported my husband during a very vulnerable time in his life. We are grateful to Dr. Mitchell for all her support and reassurance as she took the time to listen to our concerns. The Syncope Clinic is a wonderful and valuable service and we feel truly grateful that it was there for us in our hour of need.
"Fabulous care provided at the Syncope Clinic"
