Just received a telephone call from the above at 17:45 pm today cancelling a previously booked transport for Monday. I telephoned hospital transport and they explained that they had to cancel booking due to heavy demand.
I am very heavily disabled and require significant support and assistance from the ambulance workers to even access the ambulance. I have cerebral palsy, quadruple bypass, insulin dependent diabetes and iretractable hiccoughs which can result in me losing the ability to breath for short periods of time. This means that any form of public transport is not an option for me. This is all on record all and to cancel at all, and at such short notice, outside office hours, with no option of appeal I find outrageous and unacceptable
It is also on record that this is not a routine appointment and that the purpose is to discuss and agree the very real risks of proposed surgery with three booked consultants, some of whom have been brought in from other hospitals. I am not in a position to miss these appointments as I am no longer able to weight bear on my right leg and this has rendered me immobile even with my usual walking aids. I am therefore left with no alternative than to place myself at significant risk and find a way to get there.
Could you please investigate asap?
