Yesterday my son was sent into GRI AAU by his GP due to ongoing sinus infection. It was clearly a worrying time being asked to attend hospital there and then. The care he received was excellent. He was very thoroughly checked over including a CT scan which was reported to us within an hour of having the scan. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, especially the Dr who dealt with him (apologies I don’t know his name). They all put us at ease, explained everything, gave an opportunity for questions and listened to what we had to say.
We were there for a number of hours and heard lots of people moaning about the waiting, but the staff were very good throughout our journey of explaining where there might be a wait - I think if you expect it, it is always easier to deal with. Given the treatment we received I think that waiting a little is a small price to pay.
To be so thoroughly checked out, we do have an amazing NHS when it works well, and I felt it worked really well yesterday. It was clearly a department that worked really well together, like a well oiled machine! We were so grateful for the service we received. Thanks to a great team.
"Fantastic Service"
