I was referred by GP to the above with serious sepsis due to an infection and was told that I would be put on IV antibiotics when I get there. I arrived and the staff member at the desk didn’t have a clue - first of all they got my name wrong then I was told to sit in the patient area chairs and my wife wasn’t allowed to wait, although there were other families with their family with them.
I sat in the seat for over two hours with no IV antibiotics, I eventually asked at the desk what was happening and again they didn’t have a clue. I wait for another two to three hours and asked a nurse at the desk what was happening and my paperwork couldn’t be found.
I was then taken for my obs without being triaged. I gave blood and when the results came back I was told that my inflammatory markers were raised a bit. I also had an ecg to be told it was ok and I could go home. I was still feeling unwell and went to my GP today, they asked if I got IV antibiotics to which I said no. I was also told that my inflammatory markers were over 100 when they should be between 0-5 and my ecg heart rate was high. I am always full of praise for the NHS where it is due but this time I and my family have been let down.
