I have been going to the Alness feeding support group (Alness Baby Bistro) in the Highlands for a few months now and it was the best thing i did was pushing myself to go to this. As a first time mum, struggling to get out and one poor experience at a different group (non nhs) my confidence was down. But i was drawn to this one with there being a feeding support worker here and i am breastfeeding.
What a welcome and what a group, amazing! I instantly felt at home and comfortable. To walk in and be welcomed with an offer of a biscuit, a coffee made and an introduction to the staff and questions to ask about myself and daughter was just so so nice!
Felt so comfy to breastfeed here, and lovely to know the feeding support worker is there if need to ask questions who so approachable and puts you at ease at anything you wish to ask. I now have this group as a must go to every week, as it make me feel so refreshed going, such a boost and feels such a safe spot mentally. My daughter loves going and seeing rhe other children too! Knowing each week i have someone i can ask questions to if i need advice who is professional and there are other breastfeeding mums to connect with is just a comfort. And to have this provided and easy to access makes a huge difference too. The feeding support worker here is so kind, caring and just makes you feel comfy. She makes the time to get round to chat to any newcomer, but also during group she takes time to check in on people individually. She provides a holistic care approach to you and your child/children. The NHS is very lucky to have her and we are lucky to have the opportunity to have access to such wonderful support.
Thankyou!
