"When will our mother to be transferred back to East Surrey?"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Kent & Canterbury Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

My mother was admitted to East Surrey on in early Jan in ICU after suffering a cardiac arrest. She was transferred to Kent & Canterbury ICU on two days later as the bed was needed? We are still waiting for her to be repatriated.

I rang the bed management team and was told by East Surrey that my mother was no 2 on the list and they would endeavour to transfer her the following week. They also said she only went on this list on 30 Jan? Why it was left so long I don’t know as doctors & nurses at K&C assured me it was in progress. I chased this up with East Surrey a few days later to be told she wasn’t even on a list.

I then spoke to the ward sister at Kent & Canterbury hospital who said she received a call from a gentleman from East Surrey explaining where mum would be going etc. Possible bed availability from 1pm. When she rang back to confirm they had no recollection of it.

This is not acceptable and we are extremely disappointed and stressed with our mum being so far away. My mother is a mental health patient and has been so for many years and now she has suffered severe brain damage.
