"All staff were kind and professional"

About: South West Acute Hospital / Emergency Care and Medicine Services

(as a service user),

I had to attend the Emergency Department in South West Acute recently and was very apprehensive about what to expect, but I was really taken aback by the way I was looked after.

All staff were kind and professional, you can see straight away when you go into the department that the working conditions and pressures that these staff are working under is atrocious. I could have forgiven the doctor if he had fobbed me off as quick as he could and sent me home, but quite the opposite; the doctor I had was brilliant, so kind, helpful and thorough.

I really felt looked after, he is a shining example to all especially in that working environment, the WHSCT management should be doing their utmost to keep, support and encourage staff like this, because it is them who are holding the place together, but I fear that the opposite takes place .

I just want to say a big thank you to the staff in South West Acute and all the hard work you do, and especially in the Emergency Department ,

Dear saw78

thankyou for using this platform to express your kind thoughts about your recent visit to our department. As you have said, the environment we work in can be challenging at times, but we as a team always endeavour to place the patient as the priority, working within the resources available to us. In your case, it appears we have met and exceeded yours and our expectations.

I will pass on your kind words on encouragement to all those concerned. Finally, I hope you are recovering well.

kind regards

john kerr (Emergency Nurse Practitioner) ED
