I am a pensioner and disabled, I am a full-time carer for my wife, who is also disabled and has ortho-athritis in her knee and back, this was diagnosed over a year ago. My wife's doctor referred her to the Trauma/Orthopedic department at the Victoria Infirmary in July, where she was told she needed a replacement knee but this could take up to 3 years to happen.
Since this my wife has had to go back to her doctor to get her medication changed because the pain and disability has increased. My wife's health, mental health and well-being has suffered and each day is a real struggle.
We are really struggling as a family to deal with this and need to get greater urgency and action to get this operation done on a faster time-scale. My wife has other health problems and she at the moment does not have a very good quality of life.
