"Do Better!"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

Firstly I want to thank the consultant and other healthcare professionals during my visit today. Despite the 1h wait to be seen the advice received was valuable.

Unfortunately my experience was one in which I do not wish to encounter again, women who have suffered a miscarriage or recurrent miscarriages should not be placed in a waiting room with women who are accessing other maternity services, antenatal class and more.

In my experience sitting in a waiting room amongst multiple pregnant women with a television screen that relayed pregnancy and newborn advice was traumatic and insensitive to say the least.

It is estimated that 1 in 5 women will experience a miscarriage at some point in their life. This is a common figure meaning multiple other women will enter your doors and be in the same situation that I was in.

One of your trust values states 'We care'. Today that care was lacking. Consider the fact that a woman who has gone through a loss or losses will already be experiencing an impact to their mental health. As a trust you need to take accountability and consider the way you may be contributing to poorer mental health.

Something as simple as another waiting area could have been easily rectified and made an individual who may already be encountering a multitude of emotions feel better.

Do better.
