"Not asked for consent"

About: Maternity care (Ward 31) / Labour suite maternity

(as the patient),

In triage at RAH before labour started. Given x3 pessaries to be induced. Signed a c-section form to read and sign because baby hadn't dropped and waters had not broken and yet I was given a sweep without my consent by the Doctor who was checking my cervix.

I had asked the midwife who came in with them if they were going to do a sweep and they said no.

I want to know why did the sweep happen if I had signed a c-section form and no-one asked me this they could perform a sweep and no-one notified me.

I felt very unsupported, horrible, in horrific pain and betrayed.

The labour ward were amazing, empathetic and very supportive.

Dear ariesey93

Thank you for getting in touch with your feedback. I am sorry to hear how distressing this has been for you and how unsupported you felt during your stay at RAH. Can you please get in touch with myself on the email address below? Once I have your details I can look into this further and can contact you to discuss your care and answer your questions.

Best wishes
