I was admitted to Brunel Ward North 3 for a procedure. All the staff was brilliant and went through all the paperwork thoroughly. Although waiting in a very uncomfortable chair was not very pleasant, my turn came quick enough. After receiving GA and the operation, I was returned to the ward.
I was under the care of a Martha, she immediately carried out the required monitoring and was not happy with the level of O2 in my blood. In no time I was surrounded by a physio ( Nicola) a registrar surgeon, a trauma nurse, the ward sister and Martha. They formulated a plan and action was taken in record time. I never thought that this level of care was possible. They gave me breathing exercises and Oxygen, after one hour they added steam to the mix, and so they continued to monitor things every 30 min.
When things did not improve they found a bed in North 3 and I was transferred. Martha and the ward sister ( think her name was Farah) stayed with me till 20:00 to make sure all is taken care of. These two individuals are a credit to the profession and I am forever grateful for their efforts and the high level of care I received. I would recommend they receive a creditation for their exceptional work.
