Anything else?
An elderly relative of mine had a minor operation at the weekend. It appears to have gone well and he wasn't in hospital too long, so for the essentials I'm happy with the service. However there were a number of niggles. When we first went to visit we were directed the wrong way to the ward - going a way apparently only staff can use - and spent quite a while walking round before being told we were in totally the wrong building. The nurse checked with the patient she could disclose details of the operation to my wife - fair enough to ask - but she then broadcast the information so the whole ward could hear. Not ideal. We left details to pick him up when he was ready to come out, but had had no call. Eventually we rang to see what was happening and were told he was ready but they had no contact number to call, even though we had left one. I mentioned this to a friend and they had had the same thing happen to them - the patient had been kept waiting for hours because the hospital had lost the contact number of the person picking them up. So, not bad but could do better.
"Very average"
